Chelsea gallery specializing in American and Asian contemporary painting is looking for a qualified candidate to start immediately.
Please read carefully, and please do not apply to this position if you do not meet our qualifications below—
This is an unpaid internship position to start immediately and will continue throughout the Fall gallery season.
Gallery Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 11:00pm-6:00p.
Intern must be able to work at least two days a week from Tuesday through Thursday, 11-6 each day.
Ideal candidate should have significant work experience.
This position is perfect for recent BFA graduates or those wanting to work professionally in the gallery world.
Assisting with events hosted by the gallery and general event set-up of gallery space before and after event.
We need someone with good computer skills, who catches on fast. This is not a position for someone who needs lots of direction. Writing skills are also very important.
• Candidate should be organized, able to work independently, and take initiative as necessary
• Must have excellent personal skills, able to welcome visitors as well as represent the gallery to sponsors and artists
• Interested in visual arts
We do not offer weekend-only internships. This is an unpaid position, but we`ll pay your subway fare to and fro. We`re also happy to do any paperwork for an internship for school credit.
Responsibilities include administrative and mailing duties, errands, filing, database entry and research.
